Twisted Textures Crochet Wine Cozy

This time of year it always happens. Just when I think I’ve finished making gifts, I remember one more person who I had planned to crochet a gift for. When I find myself in this predicament, crochet wine cozies are one of my favorite quick crochet projects to make because they can be made in a couple hours or less.

Pair one with a bottle of wine and they make excellent last-minute crochet gifts!

The free crochet pattern for the Twisted Textures Wine Cozy can be found in this blog post below, or you can find an ad-free print friendly version on Love Crafts here, Ravelry here, or on Etsy here.

The Twisted Textures Wine Cozy is a perfect crochet gift to keep on hand for last minute gift giving all year round! Not only is it great for last minute gifts, it’s modern, works up quickly, and it is also a one skein crochet project!

A crochet project that looks great, works up quickly, and uses less than a ball of yarn, that’s a win-win in my book!

FOR LEATHER, CORK, AND WOODEN LABELS, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL THIS WOOD ON ETSY.

Add a great finishing touch to your handmade items with custom labels from All This Wood.

Crochet wine totes also make great housewarming, wedding, birthday, and teacher gifts. I like to keep a couple different styles made up ahead of time. This way, I always have a last minute gift on hand, when the need arises.

YARN

For this crochet wine cozy, I chose Lion Brand Yarns Wool Ease, which is a worsted weight yarn. Wool Ease is an acrylic / wool blend yarn that is available in 66 gorgeous colors. Although Wool Ease is classified as a Craft Yarn Council 4 / worsted weight yarn, I’ve found that it is on the lighter side of most worsted weight yarns. Keep this in mind if you plan to substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn.

It’s not a secret that Lion Brand Yarn’s Wool Ease has long been a favorite of mine. I love the variety of colors available in both solids and heathers. You’re sure to find a colorway that’s perfect for your crochet wine tote!

Mini Bean Stitch

The beautifully textured crochet stitch pattern that wraps around the wine cozy is the mini-bean stitch (also referred to as the Elizabeth Stitch). The mini bean crochet stitch pattern is a simple one row repeat stitch pattern. This textured stitch pattern alternates between one mini bean stitch and one chain.

What is a mini bean stitch?

The mini bean stitch itself closely resembles the single crochet puff stitch except, as you may have guessed, it’s “mini”. It’s a smaller stitch because you work fewer yarn overs than you do with a puff stitch.

To me, the mini bean stitch is a more dainty version of the single crochet puff stitch. It’s not as bulky and the crochet fabric it creates is lighter.

When working the mini bean stitch pattern, you’ll alternate between one mini bean stitch and one chain one. When you work the next row, you’ll work each mini bean into a mini bean from the previous row and you’ll work a ch-1 over a previous ch-1.

If you love the cables and the texture created by the Mini Bean Stitch Pattern in the Twisted Textures Wine Cozy, you may also love my other designs that use these crochet stitch combinations: Textured Twist Cabled Beanie & Slouch or the Textured Twist 12″ Afghan Square.
