Cabled Ice Cream Cozy - Free Crochet Drink Mitt Pattern

Nov 2, 2020 by Jennifer Renaud

I've been meaning to make a couple new crochet ice cream cozies and drink mitts, but I wanted something that would fit a cozy holiday theme. What screams cozy in the world of crochet...  Crochet cables of course! And if you've followed me for a while, you know how much I love crochet cables (I even taught 3 crochet cables video classes for Annies.) If you're making an ice cream cozy / drink mitt for a someone in your life and you feel cables won't be their thing, I also have a free crochet pattern for a Knit-Look Drink Mitt you can find HERE.

You can find the free crochet ice cream cozy & drink mitt pattern in this post below, or an ad-free print friendly version on Love Crafts here, Ravelry here, or on Etsy here.

    THE YARN & Choosing Colors

I chose to go with a cotton yarn for this project because it's the most absorbent. There are several cotton yarns out there that would be perfect for this project, but I chose to go with a DK/3 weight cotton yarn, Knit Picks CotLin. Cotlin is a 70% Tangius Cotton, 30% Linen blend and is available in 44 beautiful colors. It has been a pleasure working with this cotton blend yarn.
Substitution: If you do not have access to a DK/3 weight cotton yarn, you can also use another DK/3 yarn in another fiber or fiber blend.
