Linked Double Crochet Join Tutorial (linked dc join)

Working the linked dc in rows is okay, but what about using it for projects worked in the round? Then what? How do you join yet keep the tightly woven appearance? The following tutorial will teach you the method that I came up with while designing a couple new patterns.

Step by step how to join a linked double crochet when working in the round.

 Photo A: Insert hook under horizontal bar of the last linked dc of the round (see pink arrow in photo A), insert hook in bottom of 1st linked dc of the round (see yellow arrow in photo A).

Photo B: Pull up a loop thru the horizontal bar of the last linked dc of the round (see green arrow in photo B).

Photo C: Insert hook in top of 1st linked dc of the round (see pink arrow in photo C), pull up a loop, Note: when changing colors at the end of the round, this loop is your new color (see pink arrow in photo C), pull thru to complete join as shown in photo D below.

There you have it! You can now work linked dc in the round without having a gap between the first and last sts and having to sew them closed with a yarn needle.
