I've long been a fan of knit-look crochet. I can't knit a stitch to save my life so I'm always trying to incorporate stitches or stitch patterns into my designs that resemble knit stitch patterns. The Knit-Look Garter Stitch is one that I've recently used in a few of my free crochet patterns.
Slip stitching is, by far, my favorite technique in crochet. However, I've come to realize that not everyone shares my same enthusiasm. Because of this, I've planned a series of blog posts and video tutorials where I'll share all of my tips and tricks on slip stitch crochet. Follow along with me to learn a few new stitch patterns, the hows and whys of this technique, and lots of great tips and tricks that will turn you into an expert slip stitcher in no time! 😀

Let’s begin with a few stitch abbreviations and the written instructions for you to complete a dishcloth, if desired!
Materials
- H/8/5.00mm crochet hook (Clover Amour is my favorite)
- Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn / 4 (yarn shown in the video is Hobby Lobby's I Love This Cotton) You can use any weight yarn or hook size to practice this technique. I've only stated the yarn and hook I used for those wanting to make a dishcloth.
Stitch Abbreviations
- ch(s): chain(s)
- yo: yarn over
- st(s): stitch(es)
- BLO: back loop only
- FLO: front loop only

Knit-Look Garter Stitch Dishcloth Instructions
Row 1: Using a 5mm crochet hook, ch 24, working into the back humps of the foundation chain, sl st into the 2nd ch from your hook, sl st in each ch across. Turn. (23 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, working into the BLO, sl st in each st across. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, working into the FLO, sl st in each st across. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 - 3 until your dishcloth is the desired size.
Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
